THE WRITER/DIRECTOR

The director, looking very 'directorish.'

Larry Foster graduated from UCLA film school in 1977 (yes, 1977; that makes him, by Hollywood standards, OLD).
He worked as an assistant for two years at Paramount Studios in beautiful downtown Hollywood.  Later, he worked at a talent agency in Beverly Hills.  Both of those experiences were completely negative.  After living (or dying) in L.A. for 8 years, he escaped in 1982.

He wound up in Tucson, Arizona, attending the University of Arizona.  His goal was a Master of Education degree in Educational Media.  While there, he began to work in television production at the local PBS affiliate.  After he received his degree, he continued his television ‘career’ at the local CBS affiliate.  He compares his tenure there to the Vietnam War.  It was a losing cause, where employees dropped like flies (there was a big turnaround), and nobody knew what was what.
While working at Channel 13, Larry started teaching at the University of Arizona in the Media Arts Department.  He taught various classes, but primarily was involved with the beginning 16mm film production classes.  Later, his responsibilities also included the Intermediate film course.
He was an instructor for eight years.  Six of those eight years was very constructive.  He loves to talk about film.  All he talks about is film.  Film, film, film. Most students seemed to enjoy his horror stories about Hollywood.  In his last year of teaching, he came up with the idea to make his own movie.  The time was right.  And he had thought of, what he believed to be, the perfect FIRST FILM.  He would make a film about Hollywood.  After years of being a responsible instructor, of being very careful what he said to the students, he decided that it was time to completely unleash all his pent up frustrations, to throw caution to the wind.  This film might be the only film he ever made, so he was going to go for broke.  It was time to burn all bridges and to take no prisoners.
